How this rainwater tank planner works

Start with your tank capacity, measured level and estimated daily water use. Choose a reserve buffer and your supplier’s lead time. The dashboard estimates how many days remain above that reserve, while the scenario planner compares an assumed rain event and a possible delivery.

A 22,500 L tank at 64% holds 14,400 L. With a chosen 15% reserve and an assumed 430 L daily use, that leaves 11,025 L above reserve — about 25 full days without rain. Your numbers will differ.

Does this use a weather forecast or a tank sensor?

No. Readings and rainfall scenarios are entered manually. Between readings, the estimate subtracts your assumed daily use. New rainfall is only included when you log a fresh measurement or test a scenario.

Are my readings saved?

Settings and readings save in this browser. There is no account, cloud sync or automatic transfer from another website. Export your readings before clearing browser data.

MAKE IT YOURS

Your tank setup

Use your own measurements and supplier lead time. Example values are not household recommendations. For an existing tank, changing settings keeps your last measurement unless you confirm a fresh reading above.

Log a tank reading

Your latest dated reading is used for the estimate. One reading per day; saving the same date replaces that entry.

Your data stays with you.

Tankwise stores tank settings and readings in your browser’s local storage. They do not sync between devices. Clearing browser data can remove them, so export readings you want to keep.

There are no weather feeds, sensor connections or delivery bookings in this version. Calculations use your latest reading and assume constant daily water use. Scenario rainfall and deliveries are applied at the start of their selected day, then daily use is deducted.

This is a planning aid. Check your actual tank level and supplier availability before relying on a refill date.

On ShiftTime Tools, your analytics choice is shared with the other calculators. Optional analytics does not receive your tank settings or readings. Read the privacy policy. Data previously saved on the standalone Tankwise site stays in that site’s browser storage.
